Choosing Outfits That Pop in Your Senior Photos
Want your senior photos to stand out and truly reflect your style? It all starts with your outfit choices. As a Perrysburg senior photographer serving the greater Toledo area, I’ve helped my seniors pick the perfect looks that complement their personality, session location, and the season. Below are my top tips to help you prep like a pro — so you feel confident, look amazing, and absolutely love your photos.
Top 5 Tips for Choosing Your Senior Session Outfits
- Go bold with color. Bold, rich colors like coral, emerald green, and bright blues pop beautifully in photos. These shades complement my editing style and bring your images to life. Soft pastels also work beautifully, especially in spring and early summer sessions.
- Don’t underestimate a simple white dress. A crisp white dress in a flower field or garden can be absolutely stunning. Simplicity lets you shine.
- Dress for your location. Your location sets the tone for your photos. If you’re shooting downtown, think elevated casual or trendy fashion. If you’re surrounded by greenery, flowy dresses or romantic textures will enhance the setting. Want help choosing? I’m here for that!
- Plan ahead. Don’t wait until the night before your session to finalize your outfits. Steam or iron your clothes, hang them up neatly, and bring backups. I recommend packing a small “go bag” with accessories and shoes so everything’s ready to grab and go.
- Avoid logos, graphics, and heavy patterns. Loud prints and logos can distract from your face and won’t age well. Keep it classic, clean, and stylish.
How Many Outfits Should I Bring?
If you’ve booked my Platinum Package, you’ll have time for up to 4 outfits, which gives you the most variety and versatility in your final gallery. For my Gold Package, I recommend 2 outfits — one dressier look and one casual.
Still unsure? I’ll help you plan the perfect outfit combo once you’re booked!
How to Dress for the Season
- Spring & Summer: Go for light, airy fabrics and bright or pastel colors. Think dresses, skirts, and layered tops. Avoid dark colors that can feel heavy or dull in summer light.
- Fall: Rich earthy tones, cozy layers, and warm neutrals work beautifully. Add texture with knits, corduroy, or denim jackets.
- Winter: If you’re going for a winter vibe, keep it cozy with neutral sweaters, scarves, and boots. Stay warm and stylish!
